Land Management & Pasture
How do I renovate a run-down pasture?
Soil test, lime to bring pH to 6.0+ (often 1-3 tons per acre), kill problem weeds, overseed with improved grass-legume mix in fall (or frost-seed clover in late winter), fertilize per soil test, and implement rotational grazing to let new stand establish. Full renovation takes 1-2 seasons for noticeable improvement.
