How can we help?
50 answers across 13 categories — billing, sync, offline maps, troubleshooting, plus everything specific to Bield: Hunt, Bield: Fish, and Bield: Farm. Search below or browse by category.
Getting started
First-time signup, the trial, picking the right app.
Head to /signup, enter your email + card, and you're in. We won't charge the card for 14 days, and you can cancel any time before then — we email a reminder before any charge, so no surprise renewal. The trial unlocks the entire app: every feature, every map, every state.
If you do one outdoor thing, pick that app. If you do two or three, start any one of them — you can add the others later and the bundle pricing will kick in. Your account is the same across all three.
No. The 14-day trial is free with just an email. We send a renewal reminder before any charge — you decide whether to continue when the trial ends.
Check spam / promotions first. If it's not there after 5 minutes, request a new link from the login page. If it still doesn't arrive, email support@bield.app — most often the destination address has aggressive filtering and we can confirm we sent it.
Account & billing
Email changes, payment issues, receipts, billing rails.
In the app: Settings → Account → Change email. Confirm the new address from a link we send there. The old address stops receiving Bield mail immediately.
iOS purchases are in your Apple account (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Bield → View Receipt). Android purchases are in Google Play. Web subscriptions get an emailed receipt — search your inbox for "Bield receipt" or email support@bield.app and we will resend.
We retry the charge twice over the next 7 days. If both retries fail, your subscription pauses (your data stays intact). Update the card in the app and we'll re-bill on the spot. Email support@bield.app if you're stuck.
Email support@bield.app with the date and amount. Duplicate charges are almost always a payment-rail retry that didn't register the first one as successful — we refund duplicates same day.
Subscriptions & trials
Tiers, bundles, renewal reminders, the 14-day window.
Single app: $12.99/month or $79.99/year. Any two apps: $119.99/year (annual only). All three apps (Hunt + Fish + Farm): $179.99/year (annual only). Bundles save vs buying individually — duo saves $39.99/yr, trio saves $59.98/yr.
Yes. The upgrade is prorated — we credit the unused portion of your single-app plan toward the bundle and bill the difference. Do it in the app: Settings → Subscription → Add apps.
No. We never silently auto-charge. Before day 14 you get an email asking whether you want to continue. If you do nothing, the trial expires and your access pauses (your data stays). Pick a plan whenever you're ready.
Yes. Sign back in with the same email and pick a plan. Your sit logs, trips, frost-date subscriptions, and field records are all where you left them. Cancelling does not delete your data.
Apps & platforms
iOS, Android, web — what works where, install issues.
iOS, Android, and the web. One Bield account works across all three. Native mobile is best for in-field logging; the web app is convenient on a laptop for planning.
iOS 16 and Android 11 are the floor at launch. Older versions can still use the web app from a desktop browser.
The iOS app runs on iPad in compatibility mode at launch — it works but the layouts are phone-first. An iPad-optimized version is on the roadmap.
Not at launch. Quick-log watch complications are roadmap.
Data & privacy
What we collect, what we never do, how to see / export it.
What you log in the app: sightings, trips, harvests, soil tests, field boundaries, etc. Plus the auto-captured weather + location at the moment you save each entry. Standard account info (email, subscription state). Anonymous analytics on app usage (which screens, which features) so we know what to fix.
No. Your individual records never leave your account. Aggregate signals (regional mast-crop activity, regional bite reports) come only from users who explicitly opt in, and the contributing data is anonymized at the collection layer.
No. We licence parcel boundaries from public sources for in-app display only. We don't bulk-export, we don't enrich for marketing lists, we don't share with brokers. The privacy policy spells out every category.
Yes. In the app: Settings → Data → Request data export. You get a JSON file with everything tied to your account within 7 days. Or email privacy@bield.app.
Maps & offline
Downloading map regions, working without signal, sync.
Open the map, long-press the area you want, choose "Download for offline." We cache the topo, hillshade, and (if relevant) public-land + parcel tiles for that region. Stored under Settings → Map → Offline regions.
Yes. Logging, the map, and pattern analysis all work offline. Conditions auto-capture queues up and syncs when you're back on signal. You'll never lose a sit or trip to a dead zone.
Depends on the area and detail level. A typical hunting property is 30-80 MB. A county-sized region is 200-400 MB. We show the projected size before you download and you can delete regions any time.
Bield serves USGS 3DEP-derived contours at 100 / 40 / 20 ft. If a contour looks misaligned with what you see on the ground, the underlying USGS DEM might be older than your area's most recent acquisition — email support@bield.app with the location and we can flag it.
Sync & devices
Phone + tablet + laptop, multi-device, conflict resolution.
Yes. Phone + tablet + laptop all sync to the same Bield account in real time. iOS + web subscriptions go through our payment provider; Android goes through Google Play. Same price across rails.
On signal: instant — saves push within a second or two. Offline: queued and sync triggers as soon as you reconnect. If you have a stale state on one device, pull down to refresh.
Last-write-wins per record. If the two edits hit different fields of the same record we merge them. Conflicting field-level edits show a "review conflict" prompt — you pick which version to keep.
Bield: Hunt
Species, regulations, rut, sit logs, wind, stand placement.
56 species across 8 categories: deer (7 subspecies), big game (elk, moose, caribou, pronghorn, sheep, goat, bear, alligator), turkey (all 5 subspecies), waterfowl (21 duck + goose species + sandhill crane), upland (pheasant, quail, grouse, chukar, woodcock, dove), predators (lion, bobcat, coyote, fox), small game (squirrel, rabbit, raccoon, crow), and hogs.
We know the legal status (huntable / draw-limited / private-land-only / not huntable) for every state × species. We don't yet ship specific season dates or bag limits — those are roadmap items. Until then, see /hunt/regulations and verify with your state F&W agency.
You log sightings + sit conditions. Once you cross ~15 sits with sightings on a property, the heatmap unlocks and shows you where + when deer have shown given specific wind directions. The longer you use it, the sharper it gets.
Coverage hits ~80% of US counties. Open the map in your state to check; uncovered counties are marked transparently rather than faked. We roll out new counties as we sign each agreement.
Bield: Fish
Tides, hatches, SST, trip log, fresh + salt + rivers.
Yes — salt and fresh treated with equal depth. NOAA marine charts for the basemap, NOAA tides + currents, SST overlays for offshore species, and inshore migration calendars for striper / redfish / snook / tarpon.
Yes. The moment you start or log a trip we stamp wind, baro, temp, sky, tide stage, and water temp. No manual entry, no rounding.
For the top Eastern trout rivers we ship per-river hatch timing — Sulphurs, Green Drakes, Hendricksons, BWOs, October Caddis. As you log dry-fly hookups, the calendar adapts to your river's timing.
Yes — for the 28 states with active stocking programs. We pull each state's schedule weekly and map it onto the relevant rivers so you see "stocked here last Tuesday" on the waterbody page.
Bield: Farm
Soil, frost, crops, livestock, per-field records.
USDA SSURGO — per-field soil type, capability class, drainage, depth-to-restriction. Combined with your boundaries drawn on NAIP aerial imagery.
No — it makes your agronomist conversations sharper. We surface the field-level data (soil, frost, GDD, planting history, yield trend) so you walk into the conversation with the numbers, not a guess.
Individual animal tracking — birth, weight, breeding events, health treatments, withdrawal periods. Group views roll up the herd. Per-animal performance shows up at year-end so you cull the right cohort.
Season three. The pattern engine waits until it has three full seasons of planting + harvest data for a field before it shows a yield-trend line. Until then you see your records but not synthesized predictions.
Pattern engine
Sample size, confidence, why a feature is or is not visible.
Bield does not invent insights when data is thin. Each pattern-engine feature has a threshold (e.g. 15 sit-with-sighting records before a heatmap renders). Cross the threshold and the card appears. The thresholds are on each feature's help text in-app.
Every synthesized insight shows the sample size and confidence behind it. n=23 means we used 23 of your records. Low n = wide confidence band = treat the suggestion as directional. High n = tight band = take it more literally.
Yes — every pattern feature has an "Inputs" panel that shows which of your records went into the calculation. We don't do black-box recommendations.
Troubleshooting
Crashes, login issues, missing data, map glitches.
Reopen it — Bield queues unsaved entries locally so nothing logged before the crash is lost. If it crashes again, force-quit and reopen. If it keeps crashing on the same screen, email support@bield.app with the screen name and your device model.
Pull down to refresh. If a region won't load at all, check signal — offline regions need to be downloaded ahead of time. If it persists with signal, email support@bield.app with the lat/lon.
You have pending offline saves that haven't reached the server yet. Tap the warning to retry, or wait for the next connection. Nothing is lost — saves are queued locally.
Use the "Forgot login?" link on /login to request a sign-in email. If that doesn't work email support@bield.app with your account email and we'll unlock from our side.
Export & cancel
Exporting your data, cancelling, what happens to records.
In the app: Settings → Data → Request export. You get a JSON file with every record tied to your account within 7 days. Map regions and computed insights come in the same export.
iOS subscriptions cancel through Apple (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Bield → Cancel). Android through Google Play. Web through Settings → Subscription → Cancel. We send a confirmation email — cancelling does not delete your data.
It stays. You can resubscribe with the same email any time and pick up where you left off. After 18 months of fully inactive accounts we delete data — we email you twice before that happens.
Yes. Settings → Data → Delete account. We send a confirmation link and remove everything within 30 days. Federal data layers (maps, frost dates, etc.) are unaffected — only your personal records are deleted.
