Tiger muskie are sterile hybrids between muskellunge and northern pike — they grow faster than either parent and are stocked specifically as a predator to control rough fish populations or as a trophy sport fish in waters that don't support pure muskie. Colorado, Utah, and several northeastern states maintain tiger muskie programs.
