Tennessee's three grand divisions support meaningfully different mast profiles — West Tennessee hardwood bottoms in white oak and water oak, Middle Tennessee oak-hickory uplands, and East Tennessee Cumberland Plateau and Smokies in chestnut oak and red oak. Mast variability across the state can be dramatic.
