Q.Food Plots for Wildlife

How do I keep deer from overgrazing my food plot clover?

A.

Plant grazing-tolerant clover varieties (Durana, Patriot ladino), increase plot size, plant at higher seeding rates for denser stands, mow once during the season to stimulate regrowth, and rotate hunting pressure. If deer density is over 30 per square mile and you only have one plot, expect overgrazing.

Variety review pages cover grazing-tolerant clover.
