Q.Soybean Production

What is SCN and does it affect my fields?

A.

SCN (soybean cyst nematode) is a microscopic parasite that attacks soybean roots, reducing yields 10-30% in infected fields without visible symptoms. SCN is widespread across the Soybean Belt — assume it's present unless soil tested negative. Manage with resistant varieties (PI 88788 source), crop rotation to non-host crops, and periodic soil testing.

Variety review pages cover SCN-resistant cultivars.
