Inlet outflow on a falling tide is one of the highest-percentage offshore-adjacent setups for nearshore species. Tide guide pages cover regional timing.
Tides & Fishing
Do tides affect offshore fishing?
Yes, but less directly than inshore. Tides move bait pods near inlet mouths and along the beach during the first hour or two of inlet outflow, which can pull king mackerel, cobia, and tarpon to predictable ambush points. Truly offshore (over 5 miles), tides matter less than current eddies and SST breaks.
