Q.Archery & Equipment

What camo pattern is best for deer hunting?

A.

Pattern matters less than fit and noise. Deer see contrast and movement, not pattern detail. Most modern camo patterns work; what matters is matching the season's predominant background (greens for early season, browns and grays for late season) and avoiding noisy fabrics.

Deer don't see in red/green spectrum the way humans do. Blaze orange is required by most states during firearm season — it shows up as gray to deer but blazes for hunters. State regulations pages cover blaze orange requirements.

Fit and stillness matter more than pattern. A still hunter in solid earth tones outperforms a moving hunter in elite camo every time.
