Farm Pond Management
Can I stock catfish with bass and bluegill?
Channel catfish coexist well with bass and bluegill in farm ponds — they fill a different niche (bottom feeding) and don't compete heavily. Stock 50-100 channel cats per acre. Avoid blue or flathead catfish in ponds smaller than 5 acres — they grow too large and prey on bass and bluegill.
