Q.Cattle & Beef

How do I choose between commercial and registered cattle?

A.

Commercial cattle (no breed registration) are cheaper to buy and adequate for most beef operations. Registered cattle command premium prices but require registration paperwork, breed-specific genetics, and target buyer markets. Most small farms start commercial; some upgrade to registered after establishing markets.
