Cattle & Beef
How do I start a grass-fed beef operation?
Build a quality pasture base first (rotational grazing, diverse forage species, lime/fertilize properly). Choose breeds suited to grass finishing (smaller-framed Angus, Devon, Belted Galloway, South Poll). Plan for 24-30 months from birth to finish on grass alone (longer than grain finishing). Direct-market or sell to grass-fed feedlots.
