Cattle & Beef
What is a Dexter cow and is it good for homesteaders?
Dexter is a small (700-900 lb) heritage Irish breed that excels on small acreage. They produce both milk and meat, calve easily, and graze efficiently. Excellent for 5-20 acre homesteads where larger breeds would overwhelm the land. Limited beef yield per animal but sized appropriately for family use.
