CWD has been detected in 30+ U.S. states and continues to spread. New positive counties are confirmed every year, typically expanding outward from existing zones. The disease has reached every region of the country except Hawaii and parts of the West Coast, and surveillance programs continue to detect new locations.
States with the longest-established CWD zones include Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, Colorado, Missouri, and Texas. Newer positives have been confirmed across the South and East. The current spread map changes annually.
