Virginia · Whitetail rut
Whitetail rut dates in Virginia.
Virginia's rut peaks around November 13–16 statewide, with the western mountains running a touch later than tidewater.
Virginia rut timing is driven primarily by photoperiod, which is why peak conception lands in roughly the same mid-November window across the state. Zone-to-zone variation is small but real — Tidewater bucks tend to peak slightly earlier than mountain bucks because of micro-habitat and herd structure differences. The DWR fetal-rate studies of harvested does provide the underlying data.
