Q.Sheep & Goats

What is the fence requirement for goats?

A.

Goats are notorious escape artists. Standard fencing: 4-foot woven wire ("goat fence" or 4x4 mesh), or 5-strand high-tensile electric, or combination of both. Avoid 5-foot non-woven fence with horizontal openings — goats stick their heads through and get stuck. Test electric fence regularly; goats learn to bypass weak fence in days.

Livestock-breeds pages cover goat fencing.
