Q.Vegetable Gardening

When should I plant pumpkins for Halloween harvest?

A.

Pumpkins need 100-120 days from planting to mature fruit. For October 31 harvest, plant June 15-July 1 in most climates. Start later in long-season Southern climates; earlier in short-season Northern climates. Frost-date pages cover your county's first fall frost — pumpkins must mature before that date.

Crop calendar and frost-date pages give specific timing.
